how is the precision used in measuring the length and width of a rectangle related to the precision of the resulting area measurement?

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

What do you mean by precision, the numbers after the comma ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know tbh..

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Well on a general note, the more precise the length and the width are, the more precise the area will be.

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

That's how they're related.

OpenStudy (dangerousjesse):

The more precise, the more numbers that come after the decimal. 0.4 is less precise than 0.40, because when we say 0.40, we know exactly what comes after the 4 :)

OpenStudy (dangerousjesse):

So it's basically a fancy way of saying "the more you know about the length and width, the more you will know about the area."
