For what most people post, some are tests, some are homework. It is really hard to tell the difference most of the time. When it is clearly a test, it breaks the rules.

The academic standards for homework are different than for tests. You can use references and ask people to tutor you on the topic. That is why it is OpenStudy, not OpenAnswers.

The other thing to be aware of is that the OpenStudy admins work with schools. When they find cheating, they help the schools investigate it. This has resulted in some pretty nasty results for students that use OS to cheat.

If you do something like ask about transformations from one (x,y) point to another, then you could get help for working on them in general. Then you would know how to answer a question like this one. See, that is not cheating because you are not asking someone to answer your question for you.
