Hai I am Jagan. I need help to solve a check point problem given in lecture notes under gravitational field topic. In that i find the gravitational field at point p due to 2 masses, but i dont know how to find the location of 3rd mass to make the gravitational field to zero.

gravitational field or the effective force???

Hai Sidarth. If we know the net gravitational force acting at a point P due to 2 masses(m1 and m2)located at some other points in cartesian co-ordinate system, then we have to find the location of third mass(m3) to make the net gravitational force acting at that point p (due to m1,m2&m3) to zero. Its similiar to Electric force at pt p due to charges q1,q2& q3.
