the carpet at the right has perimeter 320 feet. What are the dimensions of the carpet. 13) let x=width of the carpet. Then l=length of the carpet. 14) use the formula for perimeter of the rectangle, p=2w+2L. Write an equation for the perimeter of the carpet. 15) solve for x.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

The formula: 2w+2l=p will be super helpful here. If the width is x and the length is three times of x, and we put them on the appropriate dimensions, you will have 6x (the total length dimension 3x+3x) and 2x (x+x). Is that clear so far?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

2x+6x=320 8x=320 x=40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[p=2w+2l\] \[l=3x\] \[w=x\] If you substitute you get: \[p=2(x)+2(3x)\] Then you can just simplify.

Can i ask help for another question? @calculusxy

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Okay I will try. But make a new post or the thread will be long.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

And mention me .
