factor 6x^2+11x-10
Do u know SPLITTING THE MIDDLE TERM method?
s.lusk, factoring can sometimes be very deceptive, but in reality it is easier than you think. the problem is 6x^2 + 11x -10 begin with the first term 6x^2. 6 can be split two way (2 and 3) or (1 and 6). I chose 2 and 3. the x^2 is easier because it is just x *x. Your factor should look something like this so far: (2x )(3x ) the middle term is positive and the ending term is negative this mean that the signs inside the parentheses are opposite. but we will come back to that in a minute. the last term must be divided so that the factors of the last term plus the first factors equal the middle term. 10 split two ways (2 and 5) or (1 and 10) i chose 2 and 5 (2x 5)(3x 2) now the middle. the middle term is 11. when we use F.O.I.L.( first, inner, outer, last) when mutiplying the factors. when we use the numbers i selected to split the first and last term, we get 15x - 4x = 11x ! Answer : (2x+5)(3x-2)
