Define Geopolitics and explain what effect it has had on globalization.
So Geopolitics is the act of taking land in hopes of expanding their nation. Globalization is the process of making something world wide. I am just not really sure how they are related.
Making something worldwide is the same as expanding. It's making it bigger.
But, like, does it have an effect on it? Because if a country is expanding itself and and we are trying to make something worldwide, wouldnt that make it more difficult?
And when we did that we made part of the American Culture more 'world wide'?
Oh wait.
;-;
Okay, yes i believe what i said is right. Sorry i hate this subject, but yea. Taking overland to expand their nation until it is globalized..
Oh. So for my answer I would say: "Geopolitics is the act of taking land in order to expand their nation. When Countries try to expand themselves they trying to globalize themselves. An example of this would be when America seized control over Arizona. When we did this we expanded our culture, and 'globalized' it."
Geopolitics is the act of taking land in order to expand their nation. When Countries try to expand themselves they trying to globalize themselves. An example of this would be when during the Cold War, immigration was in the act of globalization since refugees were being place into the U.S.
^^^^
Oh, okay. I see. So to clarify there really isn't any real effect? It's just kind of the same thing?
Yea kinda :p sorry history isnt my best subject
It's alright :3 Should I get someone to check our work? :o
@ShadowLegendX Thoughts? ^u^
i rather just ask someone else lol im horrible
tbh this work is probably wrong
I'll check it, This is my first public school homework and I just need to check. LOL
You are most likely correct tbh, it's just good to check. @Compassionate ?
You're making the assumption that people try to expand land for globalization. There are many reason. War, famine, greed, love, lust, escape.
Geopolitics is basically the study of geography and the effect it has upon politics and relations between nations. @Compassionate gives some good ideas and points in his post.
I'm not really sure what you need help on, this is a pretty straight forward question c;
That's what I'm super saiyan shadow!
Haha Squirrels :P
@Cydney_Morgan What do you need help with in this question?
Oh, I just need to make sure the work me and @Squirrels did is correct.
I will run it through the Correct-o-Mundo machine c;

Geopolitics isn't really concerned with spreading your personal political influence to a land. However, this is true in some cases, such as proxy wars. Geopolitics particularly seeks to understand and predict future behaviors of political conditions and changes to a given area based on it's location, position, climate, traderoutes, population, and so forth. For example, the Ottoman Empire and the Roman Empire were divided by a place called Constantinople. Because of this cities position, people who controlled this piece of land also controlled migration. Another example are the salt mines in Africa. Because of Africa's vast salt mines, this gives them political influence over trade. They control pricing and the trade routes. They can also wage high tariffs. As a final example, lets talk about Venice, Italy, during the Roman empire. People who had control over Venice controlled important imports and could raise tariffs. Because of Italy's location, it served as a major trade rout. Since the Roman Empire controlled Venice, they also controlled the important routes.
It's basically the study of how different geological features (ie., mountains, lakes, rivers, access to the ocean) affect the political power of countries that retain them. For example, someone studying geopolitics might look at how France's political power has been influenced by the natural features within its borders, compared to say a land-locked country like Switzerland.
Basically if you owned land, you had money in your pocket.
Well it has to be good land in a good position c;
Wait, I'm confused, The definition in my history textbook says geopolitics was someone wanting to expand there nation. ;-;
No. That's something different. Geopolitics is the geological properties within your land, or someone else's land. People who study geopolitics will look at the condition and geological pros and cons of a country, or land, and estimate future political changes.
Oh.... I kind of get it now! So Geopolitics would affect globalization?
Other way away. Globalization would effect geopolitics. Geopolitics INFLUENCED globalization. (e.g., the U.S invades Iraq for their oil [A geopolitical substance])
Oh I see.
So For my answer I would put the REAL definition for geopolitics, and how geopolitics affects globalization?
Yes.
