Move the numbers to one side.
OpenStudy (patrickcharran97):
i have the answer from the text book and it says x ≤ 2550 but i dont know how to get that
OpenStudy (lxelle):
Okay so after moving the numbers to RHS it looks like that,
-x<= 500-3800+750
OpenStudy (lxelle):
What's 500-3800+750?
OpenStudy (patrickcharran97):
-2550

Okay bingo, now -x≥-2550. But you want the x to be positive, what you do is you change the symbol to ≤. Therefore, x≤2550
OpenStudy (patrickcharran97):
can you explain how you would change it?
OpenStudy (lxelle):
You change symbol when you want to change the symbol (negative to positive.)
OpenStudy (patrickcharran97):
oh its that easy haha thank you!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Actually the sign will change ONLY when you are multiplying or dividing by a negative number.

since you divided by -1 the sign MUST change
OpenStudy (lxelle):
Change symbol if you want to change the negative number to positive number when you have the same negative symbol on both sides, that's for addition or deduction.
