Why did the French Huguenots immigrate to America? America provided a better opportunity for a new life. They were being persecuted for their religious denomination. They wanted to gain wealth in the new fur trade industry.

Due to religious persecution in France. The Huguenots were Protestants, and France was a Roman Catholic country. In the eyes of the Church and the State in France the Huguenots were heretics and therefore not protected by law. King Louis XIV had threatened to kill anyone who didn't believe what he believed, the Huguenots took off! They were the first French people to emigrate too
