Okay so I've been meaning to ask this but I've been putting it of.. Until now. So I love the idea of the trophies, but ever since i first came to OS I've always wanted to see my SmartScore progress. For Example, I'd like to go to my profile and see how many more questions I need to answer, how many more people i would need to help, how many more trophies i would need, how many more people i'd need to fan, and how many more fans i need to get before my SmartScore goes up a point. I think it would definitel help alot of people with escalating their smart scores and as well for motivation to
help more people. Its just a suggestion, but can it happen?

I can't help you. I just ignore mine. I'm not here to ask questions, so I don't expect my "Engagement" component will ever increase much. Plus, I'm deliberately a little annoying, so I don't really expect fans or testimonials. It might be a fun feature for some, I suppose.
It's not a bad idea, but SmartScore is relative, so it'll be difficult.
It isn't a bad idea.. but I think that if people knew how much more medals they needed in order to raise to a certain score, there would be even more reason to medal spam. I find not knowing a definite number to be more motivating, actually. It makes me want to work harder, because I always expect that much more is needed. Personally, I already find this site addicting, but if I knew a definite number of how much more I'd need, I'd have even more reason to stay on here all the time. Also, \(\bf\color{cyan}{OpenStudy}\) isn't really about raising your SmartScore.. it's about \(\bf\color{magenta}{helping}\) people and \(\bf\color{lime}{learning}\), so by giving people a number, it motivates people to raise their \(\bf\color{red}{own}\) score rather than \(\bf\color{blueviolet}{purely}\) to \(\bf\color{magenta}{help}\) and \(\bf\color{lime}{learn}\). Still, you bring an interesting idea.
It works like this: SmartScore is directly proportional to a specific value called Points. You can find your points value when you go to the chrome developer tools console and type the following: os.userById('username').smarts().points; and then hit enter. For example: os.userById('thomaster').smarts().points; It will return 2264979, this is my current points value. Now 2.26 million points is way more than enough for a score of 99. You can increase your points in a lot of ways, some actions give more points, some give less. I didn't figure them all out, but here are some things I already confirmed: + 0 Sending or getting a private message + 0 Bump Question + 0 Giving a medal + 0 Replying in your own question + 1 Every chat message you post + 20 Closing a question + 25 Asking a question + 25 Giving a testimonial + 50 Replying in someone else's question + 65 Getting a testimonial + 65 Fanning someone + 100 Getting a medal in your own question + 200 Getting a fan + 285 Getting a medal + 750 Getting a medal from the question asker If you log every action and check at what score someone's smartscore is rising, you can determine at what point you will level up.
According to that count, There should be a count that says how many more points you need to level up. And i completely agree with you @Whitemonsterbunny17 but... If there was this then people would try harder to get a higher smartscore. Some people just give up and do not want to excel and get to level so and so. Or there could just be something like this: |dw:1409096373268:dw|
