I have no idea too, but i made research and thats what i found out. Substitutional Alloys consist of a solid solution of metals. These metals bond together to form crystal structures that involve atleast two different metals. These metals often have similar bonding characteristics, but once combined can form an alloy with unique physical and chemical properties. Interstitial alloys occur when the atoms of one component are substantially smaller than the other and the smaller atoms fit into the spaces (interstices) between the larger atoms. An example for an interstitial alloy is steel, made up iron and carbon.
