How can I solve/simplify the following equation without a calculator? (I'll write it up)

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

c;

OpenStudy (thesecret20111):

\[x=(0.67\log(0.37*1*30^2) +1.46) - (0.67\log(0.37*1*30^1) +1.46) \]

OpenStudy (thesecret20111):

Anyone have any ideas?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Using the properties of logs, we can write: [0.67{log 0.37 + 2log 30} + 1.46] - [0.67{log 0.37 + log 30} + 1.46] Removing brackets: 0.67 log 0.37 + 0.67 * 2log 30 + 1.46 - 0.67 log 0.37 - 0.67 log 30 - 1.46 Combining like terms gives: 0.67 log 30

OpenStudy (thesecret20111):

Ohh that makes a lot of sense now! Thanks so much! :)

OpenStudy (kropot72):

You're welcome :)
