The question i'm working on is: The local library asked Reese's art class to paint a mural on a wall of the library. For the background, they painted a large square and used enough paint to cover 40 ft squared . How long is one side of the square rounded to the nearest whole number? I don't need anyone to help walk me through it or anything like that. I just need help figuring out whether if I change it to its square root, or if I just keep it the way it is as I'm approximating it.

I just need to know if I do have to change it to its square root in order to even work it out properly.

I haven't done any work yet. I'm not asking whether if there is another way to do it without taking square root. I'm asking if I have to in general. I need to know this in order to even start working on it at all. It's the first step in approximating, and i forgot it.

Okay. Thank you.
