how does temperature effects surface tension

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

reduce it

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

So what is surface tension? The ability of the molecules at the surface to hold on to each other or intermolecular forces. Temp is proportional to kinetic energy (K.E) So as the molecules gain energy from rising temperature, they vibrate/move quicker which breaks the intermolecular forces aka reduce surface tension
