Do you know how to graph this and get a visual representation of the function so you can establish your answer? If not, I suggest downloading the software called GraphCalc. It's a graphing utility that will allow you to quickly plug in equations/functions and be able to visualize the domains, ranges, intercepts, maxima/minima, etc.

I can also walk you through how to graph this function by hand if you like.

if you could walk me trough this would be helpful, or show me how to use GraphCalc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Absolutely. I still suggest getting the GraphCalc, excuse my language but it is @#$#$%@# awesome.

Do you know what the x^2 function looks like? We call this a parabola. |dw:1409082938275:dw| Ok so, do you know what the function sqrt(x) looks like? This is one of the very common functions that is covered in Intermediate and College Algebra. |dw:1409082885844:dw| These are the two functions we are going to be using to graph the equation. |dw:1409082782671:dw|
