HELP TRANSLATE TO MATH SYMBOLS

Y is more than 4 is -36 12 less than x is 4 8 less than y is 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one is ambiguous, if you mean y more than 4 is -36, then: 4 + y = -36 x - 12 = 4 y - 8 = 2

thanks @felis

Sure thing!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey BTW can you answer this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Answer... what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this: what is the difference between |-3| and -3 i am really confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|-3| means 'take the absolute value of -3'. Absolute value is easily interpreted as the distance from 0, so in this case, |-3| means how far from zero is -3? By just counting, it is 3. So, for other numbers, you just have to ask how far from zero the number is. With real numbers, this just means -1* the number, if it is negative, or just the number if it is positive.

ok Thanks again

Sure!
