the essence of Darwinism (what Charles Darwin believed of evolution and natural selection) is that genetic variation is crucial for survival, it helps lives on Earth adapt to environmental changes

while diversity i guess its talking about biodiversity, the varieties of species but its not the major component of natural selection (survival of the fittest)
