Question about genetics and binary fission: http://imgur.com/RQfboVl why is the answer D? won't binary fission produce genetically identical daughter cells?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes Binary fission does produce 2 daughter cells however they are not the same as if made through meiosis It depends on what the full answer is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to remember that in meiosis ! and @ there is a crossing over and in binary fission there is no crossing over of the daughter cells and meiosis only occurs in sexual cells where binary fission does not.
