It should be C; anything alive has a metabolism. Option A includes viruses which are not considered to be alive because they lack metabolic processes.
@aaronq viruses are not able to replicate their DNA/RNA on their own and that is why they are considered as Living.

Let's consider a parasitic bacteria, do u think it converts chemical energy into any other form ? Do you think it's able to replicate DNA ?
The question does not say that it must be able to replicate it's DNA \(\sf by~ itself\), merely that it should be able to, which viruses do. Pathogenic bacteria still perform glycolysis so C holds true.
