OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered the Distributive Property of Multiplication over Addition?

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Hello, Under normal circumstances, you would add what's within the parenthesis, but since you cannot, you must move onto multiplication. Notice that 5a is being multiplied by everything in the parenthesis. This is called the distributive property.

I understand distributive property but I am not sure how to do it when the number and variable are outside the parenthesis.
