((3-1)*2+(-3))^5

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

3 - 1 = ?? Good place to start.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know the answer is 1 but idk how they got it

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Okay, that's why I suggested where you might start. 3-1 = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

So, now we have: (2*2+(-3))^5 What's next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2+(-3)?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Multiplication first. 2*2 = 4, leaving (4+(-3))^5 Now the addition.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright so 4+(-3) = 1 but what do i do with the 5?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Why is that confusing? Just go with it. 1^5 = 1 Done! Good work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol Alright thank you so much
