How many integers are between -1 and 6?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how far did you get with this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got the answer 7, is that correct?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

can you list the integers between -1 and 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1,0,1,2,3,4,5,6

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

assuming we don't include the endpoints (-1 and 6) we will have this 0,1,2,3,4,5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you do include the endpoints, we'll have this -1,0,1,2,3,4,5,6

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so depending on how you look at it, the answer is either 6 or 8 I think it's 6 because I think the book/teacher is looking for numbers strictly between the endpoints (ie not including them)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks a lot! I didn't know if I had to include the numbers

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah sometimes you want to include them when you say "between", but I think they want you to exclude them
