Question

A football team records its plays using vector notation with the origin the position of the ball at the start of a play. In a pass play, the receiver starts at the position (x,5y), where the units are yards, X is to the right and y is down field. The receiver goes in motion and moves 9x. The runs downfield 11y, zigs -6x +4y and finally zags 12x+18y. during this time, the quarter drops back to pass to a position -7y how far in which direction must the quarterback throw the ball to complete the pass?

Should i try to draw a picture or add them up? what exactly vector notation? My first thought was somewhere along the lines of this:
(1+9-6+12)+(5-11+4+18-7) i dont think this is correct though
