help me solve .15(n-40)=.07(n) i don't know what to do! some people say n=0 others are saying n=75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok first is that .15?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Trying to help does that say .15?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

you need to distribute 0.15n - 6 = 0.07n now subtract 0.07n from both sides 0.08n - 6 = 0 add 6 to both sides 0.08n = 6 now solve for n

OpenStudy (triciaal):

first get rid of the parenthesis multiply each term inside by what is outside this is the distributive property group like terms leave the variable on on side and the numbers on the other. this is an equation so what you do to one side do to the other to maintain the balance. solve for the variable divide each side by the coefficient of the variable variable = number review what @campbell_st did above

always a good practice to check your answer in the original
