Question

I installed matplotlib and numpy and tried to run the test code, but I got this error:

TclError: couldn't open "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/lib/python2.5/site-packages/matplotlib/mpl-data/images/home.ppm": permission denied

Can anyone tell me what's going on?

Looks like permissions issue.
try doing this from command prompt:

sudo chmod a+r /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/lib/python2.5/site-packages/matplotlib/mpl-data/images/home.ppm

it will ask you for your user password and will change permissions of that file to be readable by all.
