Earth is a living planet because it contains organisms. Life exists on Earth on the land, in the water, in the atmosphere. Earth's environment is based on biotic and abiotic factors. Mars is a planet thought to be devoid of life. At the moment, we can only describe it based on abiotic factors such as sunlight, heat, wind, soil type, etc.

Earth has the perfect conditions for life. We are the perfect length away from the sun, we have a good amount of water, we have a good atmosphere, and many more reason make it so we can live on earth. Mars does not have the correct atmosphere for us to live on, the temperatures on mars also make it unbearable for human life. I'm sure there are actually bacteria of some form on mars, but its going to be deep inside of mars. We are unsure if live on mars exist right now.
