Given the equation, y=-2x+5, what is the slope and what is the y-intercept?

OpenStudy (vivek3461):

Slope is the rate at which 'Y' changes when you change 'X' i.e. if you increase 'X' by 1 then 'Y' decreases by 2 eg. For X=1, Y=3 X=2, Y=1 X=3, Y=-1

OpenStudy (vivek3461):

Y intercept is the place/point where the line crosses the Y axis. you can get that easily by substituting X=0 in the equation given.
