OpenStudy (haileyd):

What variables are used in an experiment? Who controls each variable?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Thats a weird question because the variables are different in every experiment depending on what it's being sought. There are 2 types of variables though (which is what the question might ask for). An \(\sf Independent\) and a \(\sf Dependent\) variable. The independent variable is what you're actively changing in the experiment, and the dependent variable is what is being observed as a consequence of the change in the independent variable.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

The experimenter controls all the variables, except the dependent - that's dependent on the independent variable.

OpenStudy (haileyd):

Thanks i thought those were the variables but i wasn't sure.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

No problem. I think that's what they mean because there is not specific experiment stated.
