find the upper and lower bounds on the root of the function y=cos x-x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not very sure about the problem, what do u mean by "...bounds on the root of..." -1<=cosx<=1, \[x \in \left( -\infty,\infty\right)\], So, in this concern, the lower bound is negative infinity, and the upper bound is positive infinity.
