OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Do you know what this means: (fogoh)(x) ?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

(fogoh)(x) means f ( g ( h ( x) ) ) Read as, f of g of h of x. [(fogoh)(x)] Now, you're given that: f(x)=4x g(x)=5x-3 h(x)=√x The question asks us to find (fogoh)(4) = f ( g ( h(4) ) ) What is h(4)? Well, h(x) = √x h(4) = √4 = 2 So, f ( g ( h(4) ) ) = f ( g(2) ) What is g(2)? g(x) = 5x-3 g(2) = 5(2) - 3 = 7 So, f ( g(2) ) = f(7) What is f(7)? Find that and you'll have your answer. Getting this? :)
