OpenStudy (imstuck):

If you typed in that answer, {5, -4} it is incorrect. BTW...are you using MathXL?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

@swagmaster47 did you just change your profile pic?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

x^2 -x -20 = (x -5)(x+4) x-5=0 x= 5 x+4=0 x=-4 so the roots are -4 and 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And you can check @jhonyy9's factoring by distributing (x - 5)(x + 4).

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

yes so than you see when substitute the 5 in place of x inside first parantheses 5-5 will add you zero so zero multiplid by indifferent will result zero yes ? so with -4 is the same way too

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

just -4 substitute in place of x inside second parentheses ,yes ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

was my pleasure bye

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

do you understand it or not ?
