OpenStudy (vegan555):

linda has obtained scores of 82,75, and 71 on her midterm exams. if the final exam counts twice as much as a midterm, what score must she make on her final exam to get an average score of 80?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. So let's first try to make an equation... (82+75+71+2x)/4 = 80

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After that we just figure out what x is..

OpenStudy (vegan555):

ooh ok. Thank you so much. I was thrown off by the 2x.

OpenStudy (vegan555):

I keep getting x=46 but the answer is 86%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay let me solve the problem again! My apologies

OpenStudy (vegan555):

it also says on a side not that assume that the maximum possible score on each test is 100. sorry I didnt write that with the q.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's okay... tbh, I really don't know where I got wrong on the equation! Sorry :(

OpenStudy (vegan555):

no its ok, I figured it out, I took 400% total because there is 4 tests and subtracted the three tests scores from 400 and divided by two to give me 86%.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow, that's a really interesting way to solve that problem! :D Awesome, I'm glad you could work it out~

OpenStudy (vegan555):

lol writing it out on here helped me look at it from different perspective. Thanks for your help! : )
