1 + 3 = 1/4x
4 = 1/4x
4/(1/4) = x
4 * 4/1 = x
16 = x
so we have points (16,1)

slope(m) = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
slope(m) = (1 - (-5) / (16 - (-8)
slope(m) = (1 + 5) / (16 + 8)
slope(m) = 6/24
slope(m) = 1/4

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 1/4
use either of your points to find b
(-8,-5)...x = -8 and y = -5
now sub
-5 = 1/4(-8) + b
-5 = -2 + b
-5 + 2 = b
-3 = b
making your equation be : y = 1/4x - 3 (correct)

answer is : (-8,-5) and (16,1)
