OpenStudy (tywower):

If a drastic change in environmental conditions results in a prolonged drought, how would the total population of ferns be affected and why?

OpenStudy (tywower):

The population would remain the same overall since only the strongest individuals would survive harsh conditions. The population would diminish since the flagellated sperm need moisture to swim to the egg. The population would rise and fall as usual until the genes needed to survive the conditions come to dominate. The population would increase since the plants would reproduce at a greater rate under stressful conditions.
