Why are the usernames that have symbkos in them are goje and are unavailable tbh I think this is messed up someone please explain to me why this has happened.

Usernames are not supposed to have symbols in them. Some users put "ALT Codes," or special symbols through Character Map. These symbols aren't supposed to be used on OpenStudy because they mess up the system. 

I suspect this is why so many people are seeing these question marks.

Oh ok well they should have warned people before putting them on there name now they have to make a totally new account

It might also be cause they have subscribed to the site because when subscribed you can have some sort of symbol there

The dev team has been told about this, but there is no reply yet about the cause and if it is intended or not.  They may be getting rid of that type of name, it may be some issue due to an update, it may be something else.

They can't change the names on accounts.  It is not an easy proposition.
