OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

This requires a quick update. Please !!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Every time when someone types in a symbol like infinity or +- symbol, or anything else, the reply gives many stupid question marks. And I am not the only one saying this. PLEASE FIX THIS AS SOON AS YOU CAN.... @myininaya @Preetha ...... people please...... this is very destructive !

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Destructive seems like hypochondriac wording under the conditions. Perhaps "frustration," would be more concise. The error seems to validate itself once you refresh the page. It has come to our knowledge that this may be a bug in the system. Shouting at Moderators (who can't do anything about it), and poking Administrators will not solve the problem any faster. Please, be patient while they look into issues. Barking orders never really works in the real world.

myininaya (myininaya):

\[\pm \infty\]

myininaya (myininaya):

That was just a test to see if I see. I can understand how that would be irritating though.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

I can see it, too, Myininaya, but some people are getting questions marks. Gofigure.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I see the same thing with Japanese characters a lot of the time. Things that used to work fine, don't. I wonder if they removed a font from use. あくま悪魔 Lets see if that stays working or not.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

@e.mccormick http://prntscr.com/4it583

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

try typing it not in latex, but just put your finger on ALT, hold it, and click 2 3 6 on the number pad on the left corner of the keyboard (you probably know this already). Then release the ALT. ∞

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I see some questions marks (they are the numbers that I have put on the keypad on the EXCUSE me RIGHT, not left, corner of the keyboard.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

It seems to only be happening with certain users. I've never had an issue with this. Maybe Ambassadors are immune (tsk tsk).

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, what I see.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

It used to even worse, but now, when I referesh the page, or leave to go to some other question (or just leave) and come back, the symbol then works just as it should.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

trying to type to get it work ....

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yeah... those, e.mccormick

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Huh, my (A) is gone. Your layout looks weird (text, dimensions) compared to mine. Maybe it's your Browser? I'm using Chrome.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I rarely see the A.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I am using chrome, windows 8, and using the same router as many of my other family members. (Not like it make any difference anyways)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

and if you are referring to your ambassador-A, then I can see it :)

OpenStudy (compassionate):

There must be a discrepancy somewhere in the UTF-8

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

??

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

if your A disappears, then it is one of the many bugs of OpenStudy.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

UTF-8 is a universal attachment to most websites. It allows for special characters to be displayed. Since this is the primary issue people are having, there is probably a bug and only a few people are experiencing it.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I know what UTF is... I am not THAT unfamiliar with computer science.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Same. I'm not very familiar with the odd choice in languages this website uses. It's like deciphering ancient Hebrew Poetry.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I overroade my encoding from unicode to western, it failed to lod. When I refreshed, it went back to unicode, and I see the Japanese at the moment. あくま悪魔. I also see it in preview, but if this is like the last time I tried something like this, it will go to question things when I post.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

yep. It did.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Why does this happen? I don't think it depends off the browsers. Does it? :O

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Now it's not going to lod for me. I see ????. Eric, is that what you posted, or is it the earlier Kanji?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

It is odd because it has happened to people with 3 different browsers.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

On a reload it renders. On a post, it does not.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Well, I'm using Chrome. Is anyone else using it? I'm having the same problem with it.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

What we need is a Final Solution to all of this.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

In fact, just like most of the issue, this one also has nothing to do with the browser (apparently) .

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

(I was absent playing chess)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

=(

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ikr..... E.Mc!!

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

We need our secret decoder ring back!

myininaya (myininaya):

I can enchant a ring if you can smith one for me. Sincerely, Dragonborn

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Smithing level is only 56. You need one of 70 if you're going to smith an enchanted object.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I am a bladesmith, not a goldsmith or whitesmith.
