OpenStudy (dawnr):

I have 2 problems

OpenStudy (dawnr):

first one is : tgx+2ctgx-3=0 and the 2nd one is: sinx-cosx=1/sqrt2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the directions?

OpenStudy (dawnr):

i need to find all of the solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok...let me think....

OpenStudy (dawnr):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin(x) + cos(x) = √2 Square both sides sin²(x) + 2sin(x)cos(x) + cos²(x) = 2 1 + sin(2x) = 2 ------------ sin²(x) + cos²(x) = 1 sin(2x) = 1 2x = (4n+1)π/2 x = (4n+1)π/4 We have squared both sides so we need to check the answer Odd values of n give us sin(x) + cos(x) = -√2 Even values of n give us sin(x) + cos(x) = √2 x = (8n+1)π/4

OpenStudy (dawnr):

it's sinx-cosx=1/sqrt2

OpenStudy (dawnr):

not +

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, I found this on the web...I didn't solve it XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me research more

OpenStudy (dawnr):

okay :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the complementary angle method Rsinxcosa - Rcosxsina = Rsin(x-a) compare this with sinx - cos x = sqrt2 R cosa = 1 R sina = 1 so Rsina / Rcosa = tan a = 1 a = 45 degrees now you can find value of R and using Rsin(x - 45) = sqrt2 find x I found this on this website XD

OpenStudy (dawnr):

what is R??

OpenStudy (dawnr):

could you write it as an equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sinx - cosx =sqrt(2) sin^2(x) -2cos(x)sin(x) + cos^2(x) = 2 sin^2(x)+cos^2(x) -2cos(x)sin(x)=2 1-2sinxcosx=2 -2sinxcosx=1 -2(0.5(sin(x+x)+sin(x-x))=1 using identities -sin2x+sin0=1 sin2x=-1 2x=-90 degrees + k360 x=-45 degrees + k180 or 2x=270 degrees +k360 x= 135 degrees + k180 where k is integer Okay now I'm getting confused :/ Maybe I'll ask some person who knows math better then I know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BRB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8, we need some math help....please?

OpenStudy (dawnr):

we sure do xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Interesting how I'm so terrible in math and now I can't even find some silly equations....XD

OpenStudy (dawnr):

the problem is that everyone is different if it was =1 it's different if it was sqrt2 it's not the same as 1/sqrt2 i tried to find it somewhere but i failed i even checked all of my books that's why i posted it here

OpenStudy (dawnr):

there are similar ones but they only confuse you more XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I'm already muddled up XD Hmmm...gotta go mention more people

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Abhisar be nice and and please help us out, we are mixed up XD

OpenStudy (dawnr):

can we get some help ? :// @ParthKohli @mathstudent55 @aaronq

OpenStudy (dawnr):

well bummer :D

OpenStudy (dawnr):

@uri

OpenStudy (dawnr):

@undeadknight26 @nincompoop @iceicebaby

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

I have not learned this yet sorry ;-;

OpenStudy (dawnr):

can you tell me who has? i really need help with this i'll have a test in couple of days :O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think I learned this either because this is way too tough. Man, what grade are you in buddy?

OpenStudy (dawnr):

finished highschool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol.....I'm still in high school..... Thanks for the medal, I don't think I helped though XD

OpenStudy (dawnr):

oh i think Abhisar gave you the medal :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol...

OpenStudy (dawnr):

can you help me with these? @Mason_Jones573

Parth (parthkohli):

Alright, what do you need help with?

OpenStudy (dawnr):

the first two

OpenStudy (dawnr):

tgx+2ctgx-3=0 and the 2nd one is: sinx-cosx=1/sqrt2

OpenStudy (dawnr):

i need to find all of the solutions
