the sum of three consecutive even integers is -6. what are the integers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know what "consecutive" means in this context?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let x be the first integer, now the next consecutive integer would be right after x, right? so we have; x+1 the third integer would be 2 away from x, right? x+2 So our three consecutive integers would be; x, x+1, x+2 so we have; x+x+1+x+2=171 use this as an ecample

means one after the other so we guess and check \[-4+-3+-2=-9\] no that is wrong try \[-3+-2+-1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it on the second try

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the solution to this problem, I think, requires 0 to be considered an even number...
