When I create a document and save it and then close it, after I reopen the document the page is stretched almost like a landscape

You may have saved it in the improper format. Try saving it as docx or rtf.

There are different versions of it. The ones that I have with me in my head right now.

LibreOffice4.1
Microsoft Word 2003
Microsoft Word 2010

and what format (which is actually called the file extension, if you are referring to the last 3 letters like pdf rtf odt and on...) you call inappropriate.

and "inappropriateness" would depends on your computer (usually, and mainly) if it is windows 8 or 7.

Like internet explorer attachments/files don't work on windows8 mostly. And there are also times (many times) when odt doesn't work on windows7

I'd say it fits a lot better in computer science. Knowledge about text editor software is a completely different thing than knowledge about writing.
