you have to compute the time separately for each one 
for example, if you travel 250 miles at 50 mph it takes 5 hours to do it

distance is rate times time, time is distance divided by rate, and $250\div 50=5$ but you can do it more or less in your head
so it took 5 hours to go the first 250 miles
compute how long it took to go the next 700 miles, again by division
