try setting up a proportion.

OpenStudy (nathan917):

(1 mile) / (50 miles / hour) = (1/50) hour (1 hour / 50) x (60 minutes / hour) = (60/50) minutes = 1.2 minutes = 1minute 12seconds

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Really all i can think is that the question asked. "When will they be 275 miles apart?" They will be going 60 mph one way and 50 mph another way.

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Lets say john is trying to get 275 miles away from where he started heading home. It would take him About 4 hours and 35 minutes To go 275 miles.

OpenStudy (nathan917):

So how many will it take Sara to go 275 miles away from where she started?.
