Could someone help me to understand the first step that Wolfram Alpha takes in its solution at https://i.imgur.com/NUGVj2f.png ? I think that the 1/4 comes from rewriting the problem without the whole thing over 2, but how does it get there?

forget wolfram , just square the damn thing and integrate term by term

Yep, Got it. Thanks. The semester has just begun and I didn't practice or study one bit over the summer.
