from memory i am pretty sure the answer is One diploid cell, with 46 chromosomes, undergoes meiosis to form four haploid sperm cells, with 23 chromosomes each.

because gametes ( sex cells such as sperm and eggs) include only half of the 46 chromosomes from the original diploid cell; that's why they're haploid.
