OpenStudy (kkutie7):

A runner runs in a straight line with the average velocity of 5i-hat m/s for 5 minutes and then with an average velocity of 4i-hat m/s 4 minutes. a) what is her total displacement: b)What is her average velocity during this time c) suppose her goal is to run 5 km in 15 minutes. What average velocity must she have over the remaining portion of her run?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hm, im a little confused. If there asking which out of these methods are correct for this it would be B.

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

that's not the question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah ok. Do they mean to describe the meanings in form. A,B,C,D,ETC. Sorry a little confused on the instructions

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

no a) needs an answer which I have at 2460m b) and c) have different answers too

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

5i-hat wats this @Kkutie7

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

vectors.

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

wats that i-hat i haven't seen this ...

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

its i with a ^ on top. its just another way to say x-coordinate

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

would u write the form for me @Kkutie7

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

i don't know how on here http://citadel.sjfc.edu/faculty/kgreen/vector/block1/func/img16.gif closest thing I could find.

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

so would it be 5(i +j) or something else

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

nope

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

just ignore that

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

if u don't kno how to write it than how did u get the answer

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

@Kkutie7

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

I can write it just not on here. plus. that's not even what I'm having issues with. you are having issues with it.

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

see i haven't seen this they either give the vector as 5i + j or they give you the point ... and this is this i think is one of the easiest ques .... if u kno wat actually the 5i-hat means .... @Kkutie7

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

see if this is 5i cap that means than u just change the metric system cos one is in m/s while other in minutes @Kkutie7

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

i already did that.

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

i already answered a

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

I'm working with one dimensional sets. x is the y-axis and t is the x-axis. its about particle movement or body movement.

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

were u able to do the b part @Kkutie7

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

no but i have the answer i just need the work

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

use this => D1 + D2 = S*9min

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

d1 is the distance covered in 5 min d2 is distance covered in 4 min which should b equal to distance covered in 9 minutes

OpenStudy (princeharryyy):

S is the average speed @Kkutie7
