I really want to say B. [intellectual] even though it was a prosperous time social wise and economic wise.

While Europe was lingering in the Dark Ages, the Islamic people went through this Golden Age. It is said that because of the intellectual achievements that occurred during this Golden Age for the Arab people, Europe was then lifted out of its Dark Ages and experienced its own Renaissance era.
