Help needed with exponents!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2z\[(2z^{3} \times z \times 3)^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

forgot to delete (2z above the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(4d ^{3}\times d)^{2}\]

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

when you multiply terms with exponents you ADD the exponents eg x^2 x x^3 = x^(2+3) = x^5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 1 }{ y }^{3} \times \frac{ 1 }{ y }^{2}\]

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the 3 main rules are x^2 x x^3 = x^5 x^3 / x^2 = x^(3-2) = x^1 = x (x^2)^3 = x(2*3) = x^6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then is the first one, 4z^9 x z^2 x 9 = 36z^10????

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

nearly correct but (2z^3)^2 = 4 z^6

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

then multiply we get 36 z^8

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

sorry gotta go
