Finding the maximum horizontal force that can be generated? (pic included)

OpenStudy (summersnow8):

I solved problem 9 A and B, but I am having trouble with problem 10. Here is my work: \[a. C ^{2} = A ^{2} + B ^{2} --> C= (1000^{2}) + (800^{2}) --> C= 1281 N\] \[b. \tan \frac{ 1000 }{ 1281}--> 51^{o}\] so now I need help with problem 10.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think the answer is 1600

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the maximum reaction we can get in the horizontal direction\[R=\mu*n\] where n is the normal reaction. and \[\mu\] is the coefficient of static friction

OpenStudy (summersnow8):

thank you!
