projectile motion?

a rock is fired horizontally from the top of a 10.0 m building. so if acceleration due to gravity is -9.81m/s^2 (chose to be negative) would dy= 10.0m or -10.0m? and why

i think it is -10m. Becaue you choosed the direction of accelation due to gravity in the negative direction of y axis . The displacement is also in the same direction of accelaration.therefore it is negative.
