Firstly, read the question, or assignment very well. Then, think about what you are going to write, and how to best answer the question.
When writing, you can write an introduction, and the main text, before writing a concluding paragraph. Then, in the end, make sure that your introduction and conclusion fit together, and that you are actually answering the assignment/question you're meant to answer.

Lastly, it's always a good idea to look through your essay for grammatical errors and so on.
