OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Is it true that Moderators can get into our profiles and go through all the messages and stuff?

OpenStudy (compassionate):

• Moderators can only view messages that have been reported • Administrators can freely access your private messages; their reach is limitless Moderators are chosen by the Administrators to regulate content on OpenStudy. Moderators are partially chosen because of their knowledge of the Code of Conduct, Abuse History, and their ability to react to stress and argumentative language. However, Administrators have a different job. While they can technically moderate content if they desire, their main job is to keep OpenStudy running, recognizing trends and marketing the platform. Administrators have access to the "coding" of the website. They can peak into this and literally view anything. Your private messages included. They can even add titles and ranks if it appeases them, or specifically change YanaSidlinskiy's SmartScore to -30 as a joke. A few Administrators are Preetha, ShadowFiend, Matt Farmer, and Ashwin

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

They can access them even if the private msgs are deleted? Thanx!!:) That's exactly what I needed!!:) Also another question: Is there like any website or something like that for new users that want to know more about OS? For example, the other day a new user msgd me and wanted me to tell them everything about OS. I told them everything what I could. I even opened up a question; went into detail too. I'm scared that I've left something out though. So, I'm wondering if there's a website that'll explain everything in detail!:) Thanx!!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

theres not much detail .... ask a question, follow the rules, and thats about it. and anyone can access your profile and see the posts that you have asked and answered. and there is no such thing as a 'private message' system on the OS. it is a direct message and deleting content only moves it to a different place in the database, it doesnt remove the content.

OpenStudy (freethinker):

yana is concerned that other people might be able to read stuff she's sent that she wouldn't want her parents to know

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

For deleted, they don't actually delete anything. It is unlinked from view but still in the database. There is the blog, which has more info on things that happen on the site: http://blog.openstudy.com There is the facebook page and some other things as well.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Lol, freethinker. That's not what I was talking about;)!!! It is true though. Just sometimesxD!! E.mc. So if I try to delete the message you sent me, It'll delete, but it won't delete completely? Mods can still see it?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Mods don't see all messages. They only see reported ones. Admins can see everything if they have the correct admin privileges. Let me give you an example of how this has been used from one event I do know about. Long ago there was a moderator. Some users accused this moderator of doing something improper. The moderator denied it. Admins got involved and got every chat, post, and message that moderator had ever done. Then they looked for violations. They found them. That person is no longer a mod or even on the site.

OpenStudy (freethinker):

don't talk about my past e.mccormick

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Wow!!! That's crazy!!!! Thanx 4 the details, E.MC!! I appreciate you going into details!!:)xD!! Everything's clear!!:) Thanx again!!:) What??? -----> Freethinker?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

freethinker, I doubt you were a mod years ago.

OpenStudy (freethinker):

yana, I am not going to rat you to your parents, but you need to change your ways :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why do u need to no this yana ya pape vso razkazho

OpenStudy (freethinker):

suka

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Freethinker, What do you mean by "you need to change your ways"?? E.MC. Do I really need to change my ways?

OpenStudy (freethinker):

your dirty little secrets are not safe :)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

What dirty secrets?

OpenStudy (freethinker):

they're too dirty, I can't mention them
