The Art of Letter Writing The art of writing handwritten letters is fading away. Today, people use emails, texts, tweets, and other technology-related media to communicate. Texts or tweets may convey some style or technique, but they do not express the thoughtfulness of handwritten letters. The letter-writing process takes longer than other forms of communication. In order to write a letter, the author must slow down and think about what he or she wants to convey. When writing a letter by hand, the author cannot easily delete his or her words and start fresh. The words that are recorded must be carefully considered before they are written. Also, a handwritten letter is more personal than an email or another type of electronic message. Many experts claim that a person’s handwriting shows his or her personality and mood. These elements cannot be communicated through email. The next time you want to thank someone for a kind deed, consider sending him or her a handwritten thank-you note. That person will appreciate the time and effort you spent.
